Higinio Bustos Navarro es un luchador social con más de cuatro décadas de militancia al servicio de su pueblo. Nació el 11 de enero de 1963 en Tepetzintla, Huautla, Hidalgo, en el corazón de una región marcada por el despojo, el caciquismo y la explotación del campesinado.
Desde muy joven conoció el peso de la injusticia: a los 13 años abandonó la escuela para trabajar y sostener a su familia tras la enfermedad de su padre. Fue entonces cuando comenzó a vivir en carne propia las condiciones que el sistema impone a quienes nacen pobres: trabajos sin salario, tierras improductivas y una vida entera bajo el yugo del terrateniente.
En 1978, se sumó a las luchas por la recuperación de tierras que estaban en manos de los caciques. Participó en acciones organizativas clave, como la recuperación de terrenos acaparados por la familia Castillo, logrando que hoy esas tierras se trabajen colectivamente y sean fuente de vida para su comunidad. Esta lucha no fue individual ni aislada: fue el fruto del esfuerzo organizado de los pueblos que, como el suyo, se cansaron de vivir arrodillados.
Desde entonces, Higinio ha sido parte activa de procesos organizativos regionales y nacionales. Ha impulsado cooperativas, trabajos colectivos, proyectos agropecuarios y de formación técnica para jóvenes, con el objetivo de construir autonomía y justicia social desde abajo. En 2006 fue parte de la fundación del Frente Nacional de Lucha por el Socialismo (FNLS), del cual es integrante activo.
Su compromiso ha sido claro: defender los derechos del pueblo trabajador, luchar por el socialismo y enfrentar al Estado capitalista que reprime a quienes se organizan. Por eso fue detenido el 3 de mayo de 2021, en una acción ilegal y arbitraria, mientras realizaba una actividad comunitaria. Fue acusado falsamente de un delito que no cometió y desde entonces permanece en prisión como preso político del gobierno de la llamada Cuarta Transformación.
Su encarcelamiento no es un hecho aislado: es parte de la política de criminalización de la protesta social, de la represión contra los pueblos organizados, y del uso del aparato judicial como arma contra quienes luchan. Hoy, el Estado lo mantiene secuestrado para intentar acallar su voz y sembrar miedo en los que siguen resistiendo.
Pero Higinio ¡NO está solo! Su ejemplo vive en cada comunidad que trabaja colectivamente, en cada joven que aprende a sembrar, en cada mujer que se organiza por sus derechos, EN CADA LUCHA QUE NO SE VENDE NI SE RINDE.

Political Prisoner of Our America: Hirginio Bustos Navarro
POLITICAL PRISONER OF THE MEXICAN STATE, FIGHTER FOR LAND AND SOCIALISM
Higinio Bustos Navarro is a social activist with more than four decades of activism serving his people. He was born on January 11, 1963, in Tepetzintla, Huautla, Hidalgo, in the heart of a region marked by dispossession, caciquismo (chiefs), and peasant exploitation.
From a very young age, he experienced the weight of injustice: at 13, he dropped out of school to work and support his family after his father’s illness. It was then that he began to experience firsthand the conditions the system imposes on those born poor: unpaid jobs, unproductive land, and a lifetime under the yoke of the landowner.
In 1978, he joined the struggles for the recovery of lands that were in the hands of the chiefs. He participated in key organizational actions, such as the recovery of lands seized by the Castillo family, ensuring that these lands are now collectively worked and a source of life for his community. This struggle was neither individual nor isolated: it was the fruit of the organized efforts of communities who, like his own, grew tired of living on their knees.
Since then, Higinio has been an active part of regional and national organizational processes. He has promoted cooperatives, collective work, agricultural projects, and technical training for youth, with the goal of building autonomy and social justice from below. In 2006, he was part of the founding of the National Front for the Struggle for Socialism (FNLS), of which he is an active member.
His commitment has been clear: to defend the rights of working people, fight for socialism, and confront the capitalist state that represses those who organize. For this reason, he was arrested on May 3, 2021, in an illegal and arbitrary act while carrying out a community activity. He was falsely accused of a crime he did not commit and has since remained in prison as a political prisoner of the so-called Fourth Transformation government.
His imprisonment is not an isolated incident: it is part of the policy of criminalizing social protest, of repression against organized communities, and of using the judicial system as a weapon against those who struggle. Today, the State keeps him kidnapped to try to silence his voice and sow fear in those who continue to resist.
But Higinio is NOT alone! His example lives on in every community that works collectively, in every young person who learns to plant crops, in every woman who organizes for her rights, IN EVERY STRUGGLE THAT DOES NOT SELL OUT OR GIVE UP.
We demand the immediate and unconditional release of Higinio Bustos Navarro!
