COMMUNIST PARTY OF IRAN. THE PEOPLE OF PALESTINE AND ISRAEL ARE VICTIMS OF TWO REACTIONARY POLES
Declaration of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Iran:
The people of Palestine and Israel are victims of the warmongering of two reactionary poles
On Saturday morning, October 7th, 2023, the armed forces of the military wing of Hamas penetrated into some areas occupied by the Israeli government during a surprise operation called «Al-Aqsa storm» and reportedly killed, wounded and took captive dozens of Israeli soldiers. These forces simultaneously launched thousands of rockets towards Israeli cities. As a result of this attack, more than 350 people from Israeli side have lost their lives so far and about 1800 people have been injured. An hour after the start of these attacks, the Israeli army launched a large-scale air operation called «Iron Swords» against the Gaza Strip and placed the residents of Gaza under heavy bombardment. According to reports, more than 300 residents of the strip have lost their lives and thousands of people have been injured so far. Israel’s racist Prime Minister Netanyahu has declared a state of war and threatened to raze Gaza to the ground.
This deadly war has taken place after weeks of tension and skirmishes along the border of Israel and the Gaza Strip and continuous clashes in the West Bank. The Israeli army has deprived the people of these areas of sleep and peace for several months. In just the last few months, more than 200 Palestinians have lost their lives as a result of the iron fist policy of the racist Israeli government. In the same period, about 20 Israeli citizens have been killed as a result of attacks by the Hamas group. This reactionary and bloody war is the logical continuation of the racist and occupation policies of the Israeli government on the one hand and the reactionary policies and religious hatred of the Hamas group and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad organization affiliated with the Islamic Republic regime in Iran on the other hand. The racist Israeli government, with the support of the US government and its allies in Europe, has continuously pursued its occupation policy by building settlements on Palestinian lands, and has imposed a disastrous life on more than two million residents of the Gaza Strip by besieging them for years. The reactionary nature of this reactionary and unequal war reflects the nature of the defenders of this war on both sides of the fronts. After the start of the operation by the military wing of Hamas, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Taliban government in Afghanistan and Hezbollah in Lebanon immediately announced their support for the operation. On the other hand, the US President Joe Biden, the President of the European Commission, the French President, the German Chancellor, the Italian Foreign Minister and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization – NATO called Hamas attacks terrorist and supported the racist Israeli government.
The people of Palestine and Israel, who are the main victims of these wars, have no interest in this reactionary war. This war is in line with the interests of racist and fascist groups in Israel, and on the other hand, it serves the interests of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hashd Shaabi in Iraq and other Islamic reactionary movements in the region. The regime of the Islamic Republic desperately needs this war to divert public opinion from its all-encompassing internal crises and disrupt the process of normalizing relations between the Israeli government and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and some other governments in the region. By announcing the state of war, the Israeli government pushes back protest movements inside Israel, and the leaders of Islamic reactionary groups such as Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and Fatah use it to maintain their rule and secure their interests.
While condemning this reactionary war, the Communist Party of Iran believes that there is no way for the workers and oppressed people of Palestine to improve the balance of power in the fight against the racist Israeli regime and to reject the reactionary religious movements but to unite and stand in solidarity with the workers and freedom-loving and revolutionary forcess in Israel and gain the support and solidarity of the progressive forces in the world. It is necessary to change the balance of power in favor of the just struggle of this oppressed nation for liberation by supporting and strengthening the global solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine. We should not allow the dreams and hopes of a nation for freedom from the grip of a racist and occupying regime to be buried under the rubble of these reactionary and destructive wars.
